From Chaos Comes Order

DO YOU NEED AN ORGANIZER?

Take this simple test:

  • Has searching through piles of clutter become a way of life?

  • Are you tripping over items and objects and can't seem to get out from under?

  • Are your files brimming over because you don't have time to organize papers?

  • Do your spouse & children complain that they can't find their tools, toys, clothes, or books?

  • Are you occasionally missing important information, client contacts, and/or financial records that may cost you time, potential business, and money?

Statistics show people spend 6 weeks a year looking for lost items.

ORGANIZING TIPS

Some strategies for keeping clutter out of your office:

  • Handle each piece of paper as little as possible. For example, don't bother to open mail, including catalogs that you know you won't read, or offering products you don't want or need. Dispose of them immediately.

  • Each week, set aside a pre-determined amount of time to work on throwing away old papers, notebooks and files.

  • Store extra pens, paper, tape, etc. in a box marked Office Supplies in a convenient location away from your desk. You do not need to clutter your workspace with supplies you don't need daily.

  • Invest in strong, quality folders and tabs for filing. An office that is organized by ripped, ratty folders does not look and feel as professional as an office that uses new ones. Recycle old folders or cut them up to use as scrap paper.
